A canal lock in Leiden Polderpark, framed on either side by silhouetted infrastructure — scaffolding-wrapped steelwork to the left, a brick control building to the right. The waterway cuts a straight line into the distance, where a low skyline dissolves into summer haze. The sky carries the scene: cumulus clouds backlit and billowing above the lock, the sun breaking through at the upper right. Built and open trade places here — the heavy ironwork and tarpaulin hold the foreground while the canal and sky stretch everything else outward.
