Dark storm clouds billow over a flat Dutch polder meadow at dusk. A treeline and construction cranes are silhouetted against a dramatic sky with a bright cloud break on the right. The foreground is nearly black.

Storm Front Over Leiden Polderpark at Dusk

22 May 2025 · Leiden Polderpark

A storm mass rolls in from the west, pressing dark over the open polder while the last light breaks through on the right flank. The foreground meadow goes to near-black, the treeline and construction cranes reduced to a thin silhouette — ground surrendered entirely to sky. That division is the whole point: the polder offers no obstruction, so Dutch storm clouds get the full frame they demand. The city exists here only as a faint edge, not as a subject.
