Dutch Church Tower with Clock Face, Netherlands
22 May 2025 · Leiden Lammenschans surrounding area
Red brick rises straight up from the treeline, the tower's square mass narrowing into a dark spire against a cloud-broken summer sky. The clock face sits mid-tower — legible, plainly functional, exactly period — and the cross finial at the top pins the whole vertical to the frame. Low-angle compression is the structural decision here: tower and steeple read as a single graphic line, the architecture doing the work the sky sets off.
