Andreaskerk rises from the brick plaza of Katwijk aan Zee, its whitewashed Gothic nave and square clock tower set hard against a deep saturated blue sky. The wide-angle foreground sweeps the eye from pavement to facade in one unbroken line — the church planted at the coast the way it has been for centuries. Bicycles lean against the railings; a handful of people cross the square. The architecture holds its ground regardless of who passes.
