A seabird perches on a beach sign post at Katwijk aan Zee as the sun drops to the North Sea horizon. The foreground is deep in shadow — dune grass, tented beach structures, a distant flag — while the solar disc holds its full orange weight above the waterline. The bird is incidental until it isn't: framed against the glowing disc, it tilts the whole composition from landscape into something more deliberate. Warm gold at the horizon, deep blue-grey overhead; the gradient does what the grade deepens.
