Extreme low-angle upward view of the white lighthouse at Katwijk aan Zee. The tapered tower forms a bold trapezoidal wedge against a deep blue sky. A stone staircase with metal railing leads to the arched entrance door.

Lighthouse at Katwijk aan Zee, Dutch Coast

12 May 2025 · Katwijkaan Zee

Shot from ground level at the base of the stairs, the lighthouse at Katwijk aan Zee becomes something closer to a wedge than a tower — the white render pulling tight as it rises, the walls converging against a hard cobalt sky. The staircase railing cuts a diagonal across the lower frame and pulls the eye up through the composition before the structure claims the rest. Architecture as graphic geometry: the building doing the same work it always has, just read from a different angle.
