Corten Steel Arch, Katwijk aan Zee Coastal Pavilion

A weathering steel arch frames the entrance to this coastal pavilion in Katwijk aan Zee, its oxidised surface reading as a clean parabola against clear blue sky. The warm rust of the corten sits against the cool blue above; the glass facade below reflects the street behind it without competing for the eye. One structure, two geometries — the sweep of the arch and the hard diagonal of the glazed wedge — working in deliberate tension.
