Asymmetric corten steel arch framing a glass entrance structure set into coastal dunes at Katwijk aan Zee, with Dutch town buildings and church tower visible in the background under a clear blue sky.

Corten Steel Arch at Katwijk aan Zee Dune Entrance

12 May 2025 · Katwijkaan Zee

A weathering steel arch rises from the dune grass at Katwijk aan Zee, its asymmetric curve framing a glass emergency exit that descends below the coastal path. The rust-red corten reads as sculpture first, infrastructure second — both claims are true at once. Behind the glass, the town's roofline and the tower of the old church anchor the composition against a flat blue autumn sky. The arch carries its own weight; the dunes carry the rest.
