Stacked Volumes — Residential Tower, Amsterdam Zuid
5 May 2025 · Amsterdam Zuid
Shot from ground level looking straight up, the stacked cubic modules of this Amsterdam Zuid residential tower lose their domestic logic entirely. Each cantilevered volume rotates slightly off the last, turning the limestone-clad facade into a sequence of angular overhangs that compete for the same patch of sky. The geometry is deconstructivist in the strict sense — the building appears to be assembling itself upward — yet every edge is deliberate, every cantilever load-bearing. Architecture as pure formal argument.
