Dutch Civic Clock Tower at Golden Hour, Leiden
2 May 2025 · Walk from Leiderdorp to Leiden
The clock tower of a Dutch civic building in Leiden, shot at golden hour against a clear blue sky. Two compositional registers hold the frame: the octagonal lantern and its black clock face with gilded Roman numerals at the top, the heraldic stone relief frieze — coats of arms flanked by carved figures — at the base. The warm light catches every cornice and slate scallop. Civic architecture built to declare, and still doing it.
