Curved Chequerboard Facade, The Hague Courtyard

1 May 2025 · The Hague

A curved apartment facade in The Hague fills the frame with a chequerboard of alternating brick and stone blocks, stacked and repeated across every storey until the pattern becomes the subject. The courtyard geometry compresses the building into a flat graphic surface — individual windows and balconies reduced to intervals in a larger rhythm. Bold in repetition, disciplined in form: it holds the eye the way a grid holds weight, right up to the sliver of pale sky at the top.
