Low-angle upward view of two dark brick wings of a classical Dutch building meeting at a corner, with a cream ornate cornice and dentil moulding dividing brick from clear sky. White-framed sash windows in rows on both facades.

Dutch Brick Facade and Classical Cornice, The Hague

1 May 2025 · The Hague

Two brick wings meet at a corner, compressed by a low shooting angle until the cream cornice becomes the dominant horizontal in the frame. The dentil moulding and ornate frieze carry the weight of Dutch civic architecture — restrained on the surface, precise in its detail. Monochrome strips the scene to its essentials: dark brick against pale window frames, the cornice cutting clean, a sliver of clear sky above. The geometry does the work; the detail rewards the second look.
