Contemporary Brick Building with Undulating Parapet, Leiden

A modern civic block in Leiden, its limestone brick facade rising five storeys to a wave-form parapet that breaks the roofline into something deliberately unexpected. Large arched openings anchor the ground floor; above them, grid-arranged windows step up toward the undulating crown. The old red-brick gabled neighbour to the left holds its ground without competing — the contrast between them does the compositional work. Decisive geometry, an unusual formal gesture, and a Dutch summer sky doing the rest.
