Second Empire Corner Villa, Amsterdam South
19 September 2017 · Amsterdam
A 19th-century Second Empire corner building on the edge of Amsterdam South, its mansard roof and ornate facade catching the last warmth of a golden-hour sun. The structure earns its ground-floor corner with authority — every corbel and dormer window placed with deliberate weight. A modern surveillance pole in the foreground stands at the opposite end of the architectural register, but neither element cancels the other out; the building simply ignores the interruption and holds the skyline.
