Moco Museum on Museumplein, Amsterdam
19 September 2017 · Amsterdam
The Moco Museum villa sits hard left on Museumplein, its half-timbered gable and red brick facade reading as a single graphic block against the square. Behind it, a cumulus bank has built itself into something that matches the building's mass — the architecture earns its ground, and the sky earns the rest of the frame. Museumplein in summer carries a particular kind of energy: people in every corner, pink benches, trees in full leaf, and this Dutch villa holding its shape through all of it.
